Here's What We Can Work On At Home

Monday Night

School-Home Links

On Monday your child will bring home a paper with the title "School-Home Link" to complete with an adult.  These are literacy activities that help to develop young readers.  This should only take 5-10 minutes to complete.  Please return page to school Tuesday for your child to receive credit for completing.

Tuesday Night

Sight Words

On Tuesday your child will bring a page home with the sight words for the week on it.  Please help your child cut out each word and glue it to an index card (found in homework bag) and keep them to use as flash cards.  These can be used to review all of the words for the year.  The top portion of the page needs to be signed and returned to school on Wednesday for your child to receive credit for completing.

Wednesday Night

Decodable Story

On Wednesday your child will bring a page home with the sight words to pracitce writing. Also there will be a black and white copy of a decodable story for your child to read to you.    Please help your child sound out any words she is having trouble with and remind her that sight words are not sounded out. The story book can be kept at home.  The worksheet with the sight words needs to be returned to school in the agenda Thursday morning..

Thursday Night

General Practice

There will be a Math or Reading activity send on on Thursday night.  It is usually a review from some we have worked on in class.  Please have your child complete and return it to school in his/her agenda Friday morning.

Over the Weekend

Extra Practice

Many parents ask about additional resources to help their child at home.  On Fridays, there will be an extra practice page for all of the reading skills we have practiced for the week sent home.  Although this work is not required, it is a great review, and can be beneficial to students.  This can be kept at home to review anytime.

Tools for Success

Below is a description of each night's homework.  Homework is an important way to show your child that what they are learning in school is important.  At the beginning of the year a "homework bag" was sent home with all of the supplies need to complete the work. The bag includes:  pencils, scissors, glue stick, crayons, and index cards.

Please let me know if you need more of anything.
